We treated ourselves to one of my old Bordeaux bottles on Saturday evening and opened this 1998 Ch Leoville Lascases. It's a wine I bought back in the early 2000's and I remember paying around £400 for a case of 12 bottles, I thought this was expensive at the time (£30 a bottle) but these days you'd struggle to pick up a case of this wine for less than a couple of thousand. Still, the wine was on top form, singing from the glass no signs of any deteriation, inky, red and black fruits with great body and concentration. A top wine from a less than top vintage, still well and truly alive after a quarter century in bottle.
