When I was a teenager I used to love fishing but over the years other stuff got in the way, like exams, careers, families, time pressures etc. and I gave it up before reaching my 20s. Today I went course fishing for the first time in many, many years, a mate of mine suggested it a while back and we finally got around to organizing a day out. After a visit to the tackle shop yesterday we headed over to Hurley Lock (Berkshire) and a free section of the Thames to settle in for a day by the river (see picture above!)
After a couple of hours and a couple of missed bites I finally landed a small Thames Roach (see below)
After this we had a couple of very small fish, what looked like a Bleak (possible?) and a feisty little Perch, all in all not a super result but a very satisfying day out and a great refresher trip, can't wait for the next trip now (got one planned to the Cotswolds).
