Cavalry rescues Brits from the NHS

The news biscuit is spot on the money as usual (why does satire resonate more than real news these days?) this wonderful story outlines the US plans for military intervention to liberate the UK from the NHS, here is a snippet

'I thought I'd seen everything, but we have further video evidence which shows that these alleged 'hospitals' are not only run by a terrifying network of nasal, mincing administrators and obese, tyrannous matrons, but many of them actively oversee the abuse of patients by sticking daffodils up their bottoms.'

Ah those Right Wing American drones, the motherlode of comedy gold.

How DO you find this stuff??

I just had a conversation with a good friend in the states last night where he talked about how everything on the news is about Obama's socialist healthcare proposal, and about how middle class americans and higher are outraged that they might have to wait to have their bunions removed just so others who are currently uninsured can have their pacemakers right away.

Apparently they agree -in theory- that all americans should have access to good healthcare, as long as accomplishing it does not impact them in any way.

Apparently PBS in the states is covering stories of americans who are uninisured and their health travails and resulting bankruptcies and deaths, and no other network does anything except cry socialism.

Hi Lisa,

Interesting and scary at the same time.

We had one of those kinds of conversations in the office yesterday about this, "bafflement" was the general feeling. What we couldn't understand was why (considering we are talking about the richest country in the world) so many Americans can be so cold hearted when those very people generally espouse the idea that they represent the last bastion of "Christian morality", as I say baffling.

We concluded that there were some things about America that outsiders will never fully understand, things which on the whole appear totally opposed to the general consensus in the rest of the world, for example,

Gun control
Abortion
Mistrust of Government
Homophobia

These things exist elsewhere of course but appear unusually polarised in the USA, is that fair?

Lisa, I forgot to answer your question, I find things like this because I've invented some software to find things like this for me (or whatever else I define in my domain of interest) - it's what my company does, the next big thing ... we hope :)

It is interesting the way that the US is "founded on christian values" when it suits a particular purpose, but those values are conveniently forgotten when helping those who have less means it impinges on someone's convenience.

Maybe 'christian values' refers to christians being in power and making the laws - that would explain what otherwise looks like inconsistency.

I forgot about your work Steve, and do remember that someday you might track me down at my blog!! :-)

Lisa, yes, how seriously can you take a value system that is indistinguishable from narrow self interest.

Still doesn't explain the gun/government thing though.

re. your blog, now that sounds like a challenge! :)
