In a long article in the Daily Mail there is a winding and sorry tale of public moral indignation partnered with long term mental and physical abuse of his family behind closed doors. From his well publicised obsession with homosexuality it must now surely be a forgone conclusion what will be revealed next.
When will our society learn that respecting (and affording privileged media access) to idiots like this is just because they believe in some Bronze age mythology or other is complete folly, they are at best harmless buffoons and at worse mentally ill;
To quote an appropriate phrase from Homer Simpson ... DOH!

The reason Green is popular with the BBC is that he is a mouthy opinionated "Christian" with as you rightly say a Bronze Age attitude. This makes it nice and easy for the BBC to caricature Christians' attitude to for example, gay people as a simple argument rather than the nuanced debate it really is. The BBC wouldn't want to deal with proper discussion - it takes up too much time when there's reality TV and cookery shows to put on.
He gets on our nerves far more than yours - he just confirms your assumptions, whereas it lampoons our beliefs. He does more damage to Christianity than Dawkins could ever do.
Hi G, I certainly agree wrt. the Daily Mail, and allegations are only that i.e. allegations.
I suppose my point is that this kind of character invariably ends up in this kind of place, it does no one any good; the moderate and tolerant Christians because they are then tarred with the same brush nor the supposedly secular establishment for giving him a platform.
