Bigger than you think
I hadn't appreciated how big Africa actually was, but look at it with all these other countries crammed into it for comparison, topography envy?
CB, true, it ain't small either! most maps and globes that use the Mercator projection shrink it (as per the blurb in this image) If someone said that the whole USA fits roughly into the sahara region then I would have raised an eyebrow at that thought.
G, I'd forgotten about them, never had to use it myself although talking of middleware I did have to suffer Iona's implementation of CORBA once, complete nightmare.

It was hard enough using it as middleware. Why do we let Mercator draw maps as well?
