Had some good friends over for dinner yesterday (last chance saloon for a dinner party as it turns out!) so I opened a good bottle of wine. This one is from the South of France (Châteauneuf du Pape) and was bottled in 1998 a top vintage for that region and producer. Chateau Beaucastel is quite well known and it usually ages really well, at 20+ years old this example was singing! Lovely dark fruits and berries, spice, long finish just the job for a rainy October evening!
