I wonder if this is statistically significant?

In correct unless one adds those of the Imperialist forces who do their damnedest to prevent others from having their freedom.

HV, one man's terrorist etc. But I ask, whose responsibility is it to stop Islamist Terrorism? Are people to just sit back and shrug their shoulders?

before you start thinking about significance you might want to look at accuracy. I mean, I don't know VERY much about it, but I was reading newspapers in the 80s and "Ulster Loyalist 1, Irish Republicanism 8" sounds a bit low to me.

merryhouse; if you look at the source you'll see that this chart is only for attacks where 40 or more people died. I agree that the IRA were very active in the 70s and early 80s but for the most part the casualties were small (relatively speaking) as they used to give warnings. I remember the Guildford and Birmingham pub bombings very well as a kid - dark times.
