Freedom (with benefits)

Much grinding of teeth going on in Australia at the moment. The Government there are attempting to pass a bill aimed at "protecting" religious people, but as most secular and liberal commentators there are pointing out it's a bill that allows religious institutions (like schools) to discriminate against people on the grounds of immutable characteristics like sexual orientation or race.

Surely it's about time our species realised that religion has no place in the town hall? It's divisive, subjective and lacks any demonstrable credibility when it comes to, oh I don't know, minor details such as the appreciation of REALITY or MORALITY! Faith is not immutable, it's a choice, albeit one deprived from most people through childhood indoctrination, even so, however deeply felt, religions are just ideas and the world is pluralistic, our laws should be too.
